Sega Channel billboard (1994)
The Sega Channel was one of the earlier examples of downloadable content in gaming’s history, blazing the trail well over a decade before Xbox Live or PSN were even blips on the radar. It allowed users to “download” fully playable games and demos straight to their Genesis, using cable TV services instead of the internet.
